Aware of how many people suffer the effects of past stresses and trauma, sometimes without even knowing why, I trained and became certified in the techniques in 2022 in order to help. I've conducted over 30 Havening sessions, primarily online (via Zoom) in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and New Zealand. Concerns addressed have ranged from traumatic event-originated distress and fears, improving educational and work performance, building/rekindling a lost sense of play, as well as fostering hope, courage, self-confidence, motivation/energy, and other positive, resilience-building emotions. I have been amazed at how powerful an impact even an hour or two of this work can have on a client.
I am also certified to facilitate Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART), an 8-10 week course developed by the Benson-Henry Institute of Mind Body Medicine (Mass. General Hospital & Harvard Medical School affiliated), having completed both training to run SMART courses (2015) and the BHI's 4-day The New Science of Resilience and its Clinical Applications program at Harvard Med., in 2014.
I completed the 4-day program, The Science and Wisdom of Emotions, The Science of Compassion, and Working Together Towards Harmony, plus several monthlong, positive psychology-infused units through the Flourishing Center, a positive psychology certification program out of New York City.
My approach is both instructive and healing, providing you information and tools you can use on your own, whenever you need, and allowing you to continue building more helpful neural pathways. Through additional trainings and past work experience, my approach is informed by positive psychology; Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); and humanistic Buddhist perspectives. Before my Havening certification, I enjoyed working part time at McLean Hospital near Boston, a top US psychiatric inpatient facility, running activity, stress management, relaxation, music and psychoeducational groups with adults challenging a variety of mental illnesses, including trauma.
I strive to provide an empathetic, judgment-free, safe and nurturing space for healing. Laughter and fun is often involved, as well! Whether you are seeking to learn how to increase physical and emotional resilience while reducing the impact of negative stress, heal from a past trauma, overcome a phobia, build more helpful beliefs, strategies, and emotions to increase well-being, performance success at work, school, in sports or other performance arenas, I can work with you utilizing Havening Techniques. I will also instruct you on how to use them on your own to continue building a sense of safety, capability, confidence, self-love, and peace, according to your needs, to empower you in your own mind/body health-improvement, relief, self-care and personal growth.
Before my emotional-healing work, I taught writing in higher education across the country, with US and international students, as well as conducted private creative writing workshops as an AWA affiliate for over 11 years. I love to play music, spend time in nature, play with my cats, read novels, learn new things and meet new people!
To discuss how I can help you make your life freer of stress and distress, and boost your innate resilient abilities and well-being, please send me an email to schedule a phone call or virtual meeting: havening4healing@gmail.com
